The Golden Tilefish is a beautiful fish, being blue-green and iridescent on top, and changing to yellow or rose on the lower sides. The back and upper sides are dotted with brilliant yellow spots, and the belly is white.

Habitat & Range

The Golden Tilefish is a bottom dweller found in water ranging from 250 to 1500 feet deep. They prefer irregular bottom with sand, mud, and shell where they live in cone-shaped burrows, and concentrate in small groups or pods. They feed on bottom creatures, such as crabs, shrimps, sea snails, marine worms, and small fishes.
